BUT , there are exceptions :

• Nouns that are used as adjectifs do not follow in number and gender 

	Fruit : les marrons		Elle a les yeux marron
	precious stones :   emeraud		C'est un lac emeraud.

• compound colours also do not follow the noun in number and gender

          examples :
                              des cravates bleu clair

                             une jupe vert foncé        

                              des vestes rouge cerise        

                             des cirés bleu marine

• two colours linked by the conjunction 'et'

                    une couverture bleu et blanc

            NOTE : Observe the difference between the two examples :

                     des marbres bleu et noir

                                             des marbres bleus et noirs
